What to expect when upgrading QuickServer from v4 to v5

Crucial note on the upgrade process

• QuickDesk is retired: Unlike previous major releases where QuickDesk was upgraded in tandem with QuickServer, QuickDesk is officially retired in v5. For creating, tuning, and editing your production presets moving forward, please use Workbench v5.
• Apps Manager cannot be used for this migration: Because v5 introduces a significant architectural shift, the legacy Apps Manager cannot process the jump from v4 to v5. This upgrade requires a one-time manual installation.

1. How to access and run the v5 installer

QuickServer v5 is distributed directly via your dedicated account team rather than a public or automated download.

• Get your download link: Your Solutions Architect should have already provided you with a direct download URL. If you do not have this link yet, please reach out to them directly to request it.
• Run the installer: Once you have the file, simply run the installer on your machine. There is no need to uninstall QuickServer v4. The v5 installer will automatically overwrite the existing version and upgrade your system seamlessly.

2. Licensing

• Your existing v4 license key will automatically transition to v5 during the installation.

3. What migrates automatically

The installer automatically detects and migrates your custom configurations and assets from their old directories. You do not need to manually move any data. The following items will transition automatically:

• Presets
• Crop presets
• Custom AI Models
• Creative LOOKs (Note: Available starting in version 5.0.3 and later)

4. New installation & material paths

QuickServer v5 introduces modernized file directories. If your team manages backups, server scripts, or security permissions, please note the new paths below:

• QuickServer Application Path:
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Perfectly Clear\QuickServer
  • macOS: /Applications/Perfectly Clear/
• QuickServer materials & shared assets:
  • Windows: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Perfectly Clear\Perfectly Clear Shared\
  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Perfectly Clear/Perfectly Clear Shared/

5. Product retirements & future updates

To simplify our ecosystem, two legacy utilities are being retired with the launch of v5:

• Apps Manager is retired: You no longer need a separate application to manage software updates. Moving forward, all future QuickServer v5 updates will be delivered via a streamlined, automatic in-app pop-up prompt whenever a new build becomes available.
• QuickDesk is retired: For creating, tuning, and editing your production presets, please transition to using Workbench v5. Please reach out to your Solutions Architect for the download link.
